Day 2
Ethnographic Wonders of Listvyanka - a village where tradition meets modernity
Breakfast at the hotel.
Excursion to Listvyanka village — the nearest place to Baikal Lake, the way takes at about 1,5h driving from Irkutsk. It’s one of the most popular and charming destinations on the shores of Lake Baikal. The road follows the Angara River, the only river flowing out of Baikal, offering beautiful views along the way.
On the way, visit the Taltsy Museum of Wooden Architecture, one of the best open-air museums in Russia.
Taltsy is an ethnographic complex — a recreated Siberian village preserving the culture and traditions of the peoples of Eastern Siberia. On its 70-hectare territory, there are over 80 historical, architectural, and cultural monuments. Explore authentic Evenk camps, ancient Buryat yurts, and traditional Siberian peasant and Cossack estates spread across 70 hectares of breathtaking landscape.
The museum also features birch bark and pottery workshops and a stable.
Immerse yourself in the region’s folklore as you witness traditional crafts being practiced.
In Listvyanka, delve into the mysteries of the Baikal Museum of Flora and Fauna. Here you discover the unique ecosystem of the lake, often referred to as a natural laboratory. You can not only learn about endemic species but see with your eyes Baikal fishes, including the famous Baikal seal (nerpa), and gain a deeper understanding of why Baikal is considered one of the most extraordinary lakes in the world.
Next stop — the local fish and souvenir market. A vibrant and colorful place where you can see and smell freshly smoked omul and other types of Baikal fish, as well as browse handmade souvenirs and local crafts — perfect for bringing a piece of Baikal home with you.
Lunch will be served at a restaurant overlooking the lake, where you can enjoy not only delicious local cuisine but also stunning panoramic views of Baikal.
After lunch, you will take the chairlift to the Chersky Stone viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of Lake Baikal and the source of the Angara River.
Return back to Irkutsk and Overnight in the hotel.
Day 3
Discover the Sacred Heart – Olkhon Island
Breakfast at the hotel.
The air is filled with the promise of discovery as you prepare to embark on a journey to Olkhon Island — a land where time seems to stand still, and ancient spirits whisper their tales to those who listen.
After breakfast, departure to Olkhon Island. The trip (including a picturesque ferry crossing) takes about 5–6 hours.
Olkhon is often called the “heart of Baikal.” It is the geographical, historical, and spiritual center of the lake — the place where the first Russian explorers began their discovery of Baikal.
The island is rich in archaeological sites, myths, and legends. Almost every spot here is tied to an ancient story — sometimes romantic, sometimes mysterious. The diversity of natural landscapes, unique microclimate, and the combination of shamanic and Buddhist cultures make Olkhon a magnet for travelers from around the world.
Lunch will be served en route, giving you a chance to refuel and soak in the panoramic views of Baikal’s endless waters.
Upon arrival in Khuzhir — the island’s charming main settlement — you’ll check into your hotel and take a well-deserved rest.
After a short break, take a walk to Cape Burkhan (Shaman Rock) — one of the most iconic and sacred landmarks of Lake Baikal.
This dramatic rock formation rising from the water has long been a place of worship and is surrounded by numerous legends. According to local beliefs, powerful spirits inhabit this place, and it remains an important site for rituals and offerings.
Dinner and overnight stay on Olkhon Island.
Day 4
A Day of Spiritual Discovery: Journey to Ogoy Island
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, take a boat excursion on the Small Sea Strait to Ogoy Island — the largest island in the Small Sea and a place deeply associated with spiritual practices and inner harmony.
As the boat glides over the crystal-clear waters, you’ll feel the transition from ordinary reality to a place where ancient traditions and natural beauty intertwine. Ogoy Island is not just a geographical location; it’s a sacred space, a place where time slows down, allowing you to reconnect with yourself and the world around you.
Upon arrival, a short walk will take you to the top of the island, where the Stupa of Enlightenment rises gracefully against the sky. This sacred Buddhist monument was built to promote peace and spiritual purification. Inside the stupa are relics, ancient manuscripts, and sacred items brought from different parts of the Buddhist world.
Here, you will have time to walk around the stupa, spin the prayer wheels, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of Baikal, and simply pause — to listen to the wind, the water, and yourself. Many travelers describe this place as deeply calming and even transformative.
Lunch will be served during the excursion, allowing you to enjoy local flavors in the heart of Baikal’s nature.
In the afternoon, you will return to Olkhon Island, where you can relax, take a walk along the shore, or watch the sunset over the lake — one of the most magical moments of the day.
Dinner and overnight on Olkhon Island.
Day 5
A Day of Epic Adventure: Jeep Safari to Cape Khoboy
Breakfast at the hotel.
Jeep tour to Cape Khoboy.
Today promises to be one of the most spectacular days of your trip. After breakfast, you will embark on an adventurous jeep tour across Olkhon Island in traditional UAZ vehicles — the only way to truly explore its remote and wild northern landscapes.
The trip in UAZ vehicles takes you to the northernmost point of the island, through some of Olkhon’s most stunning landscapes: the Sandy Valley (Padi Peschanaya) with its scenic dunes; the White Cape (Sagan-Khushun) made of light marble and covered with red lichen;
The highlight of the day is Cape Khoboy — the northernmost point of Olkhon Island.
Its name means “fang” and the dramatic rock formation it strikingly resembles a sharp fang extending into the waters of Lake Baikal. Standing here, you will feel the true scale and power of the lake: this is its widest part, where the horizons seem endless. In clear weather, you may even spot the distant outline of the Holy Nose Peninsula on the opposite shore.
According to local legends, Cape Khoboy is a place of strong energy and ancient spirits, and many visitors feel a special connection to nature here.
Your journey also includes a visit to Uzury Valley — a unique spot on Olkhon’s northern coast. Here, the road makes a dramatic descent directly to the water’s edge, offering unobstructed access to Baikal’s shores and unforgettable photo opportunities.
A picnic lunch will be served amidst this wild beauty, allowing you to savour local flavours while surrounded by nature’s splendour
Return to Khuzhir.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6
