Here's how it works.
Day 1
The area around Elbrus isn't just about the mountain. It's also home to four historic resort towns: Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Zheleznovodsk and Essentuki.
Each has its own unique character, but together they create an amazing space where treatment becomes a journey and relaxation is a touch of history.
Arrival. Getting to Know Kislovodsk
Meeting at Mineralnye Vody airport. Group transfer to Kislovodsk and check-in at a 4* hotel.
Lunch at the hotel restaurant.
The first introduction to the region begins with traditional cuisine and local flavors. Enjoy local Caucasian flavours.
Tour of Kislovodsk. Let’s discover the soul of this city!
The atmosphere here is truly special. Kislovodsk is located in a mountain valley. The air is incredibly clean, filled with the scent of alpine herbs, and the number of sunny days here is the highest in the region. It is no coincidence that Pushkin, Lermontov and Tolstoy came here seeking inspiration and good health. Here you’ll find a mild climate and healing mineral waters (narzans). The city’s history began with a fortress built in 1803 by order of Emperor Alexander I.
During the walk, you will see the Fortress Gates – a living link to the city’s origins, the Resort Boulevard – the heart of the city, the elegant Colonnade and the iconic Main Narzan Baths. One of the main highlights is the Narzan Gallery, a Neo-Gothic building constructed in 1848. You can try three types of narzan.
After that, a walk is available along the health trails (terrenkurs) of the Kislovodsk National Park. This is the largest man-made park in Europe.
Return to the hotel.
Dinner at your leisure at the hotel or at one of the many restaurants on Resort Boulevard.
Day 2
Pyatigorsk and Zheleznovodsk: History, Architecture, and Healing Springs
Breakfast at the hotel. Set off to explore two famous resorts of the Caucasus Mineral Waters region.
Tour of Pyatigorsk the oldest resort in the region, founded in 1780.
European masters designed elegant drinking galleries, pavilions, and park ensembles that still adorn the city today. Over 40 mineral springs of different composition and temperature are found here. Local sanatoriums offer treatments with healing mud and rare radon therapy.
You will stroll through the historic Tsvetnik Park , see the Diana Grotto and the Eagle sculpture, a symbol of the region, and climb to the stone Aeolian Harp pavilion with panoramic views of the surroundings.
One of the highlights will be a visit to the natural karst formation called Proval (The Chasm), a mysterious turquoise lake hidden inside Mount Mashuk.
Lunch at a restaurant. Experience the region through the vibrant flavors of Caucasian cuisine.
Tour of Zheleznovodsk the coziest resort in the region, often described as anopen air architecture museum. It features green alleys and an intimate atmosphere.
Remarkable architectural treasures await you here. The Pushkin Gallery, a delicate structure of glass and metal, was designed after pavilions found in European spa towns such as Karlovy Vary. Remarkably, its metal frame was manufactured at a factory in Warsaw, transported by railway, and assembled entirely with bolts, without a single nail.
You will descend the Cascade Staircase , which has 700 steps and is decorated with fountains, sculptures, and flowerbeds. It is the longest park staircase in southern Russia.
During a walk through the resort park, you will visit the famous Smirnovsky Spring, opened in 1862, and taste the mineral water that attracts thousands of visitors.
The walk ends at the world’s only pump room shaped like an open book, where you can try the renowned Essentuki mineral water.
Return to Kislovodsk.
Dinner at your leisure.
Day 3
Elbrus: The Roof of Europe
Breakfast and Transfer to the fascinating Elbrus resort. The drive takes about 3,5 hours through the scenic landscapes of Kabardino Balkaria.
The route passes through mountain gorges, swift rivers, and wide panoramas of the Caucasus. Along the way, you will learn about the history of climbing Elbrus, discover the traditions of Kabardian and Balkar peoples, who have lived in these lands for centuries, and explore the unique nature of the region.
Cable car ascent to Mount Elbrus.
From the Azau Glade, you will ascend to the Garabashi station at an altitude of about 3,850 meters. A different world opens up: glaciers, eternal snow, and the silence of the highlands.
A grand panorama of the Main Caucasus Range unfolds, including Elbrus itself — the highest peak in Europe at 5,642 meters above sea level. This is one of the most powerful moments of the entire trip – truly breathtaking and unforgettable!
Lunch at a restaurant on the resort. After descending to the Azau Glade, a tasting of traditional Balkar dishes and Caucasian delicacies awaits you.
Free time at the resort. Optionally, you can visit the colorful souvenir market, where local artisans offer wool products, mountain herbs, sweets, and memorable gifts.
Departure for beautiful Kislovodsk.
Upon the group’s request, a stop at a thermal complex is possible on the way back, where you can relax for about 1,5 hours in pools with mineral water at different temperatures.
Along the way, a stop for dinner at a cafe serving local cuisine is planned.
Return to Kislovodsk.
Day 4
Essentuki and a Cossack Village: Traditions, Hospitality, and Resort Heritage
Breakfast at the hotel and set off for Essentuki. This resort town owes its birth to Russian Cossacks.
Visit to a traditional Cossack village (stanitsa).
This journey is dedicated to the history of the Cossacks, who played a significant role in developing the Caucasian Mineral Waters region. The meeting will take place in an old house with a traditional Russian stove. Learn about the Cossack way of life, family traditions, rituals, national clothing, and household items, all carefully preserved to this day. This is not a museum decoration but a living culture, where you can still feel strength of character, dignity, and openness.
Lunch featuring traditional Cossack cuisine. A hearty feast that continues the introduction to the southern traditions of hospitality.
Tour of Essentuki.
Essentuki is one of Russia’s most famous balneological resorts. The city is renowned for its legendary springs. Its famous alkaline saline mineral springs — Essentuki No. 4 and Essentuki No. 17 are well known far beyond the country. Taste this water in a drinking gallery designed by the English architect Samuel Upton.
During the tour, you will see the remarkable Mud Bath building, constructed in 1915 in the style of Roman baths. At the time of its opening, no medical facility in Europe could match its level of equipment. Nearby stands the Zander Institute of Mechanotherapy, — a unique monument to European resort medicine, still standing after more than a century. And you’ll also see the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, home to Russia’s tallest statue of Christ (22 meters).
Return to Kislovodsk.
Dinner at your leisure.
Day 5
Farewell to Kislovodsk
Your last day at the resort is a wonderful opportunity to fully enjoy the healing air of Kislovodsk and soak in the atmosphere of a place where nature and human vision have been shaping a unique health retreat for over two centuries.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Interactive museum and walk through the Resort Park.
Before departure, savor one more encounter with Kislovodsk. You’ll visit an interactive museum in the historic Narzan Gallery building. The museum features over 30 fascinating installations that tell the story of nearly two centuries of creating the park’s landscape.
After that, enjoy a walk through the Kislovodsk Resort Park — one of Europe’s largest man-made parks, covering 950 hectares.
To put that in perspective, it is three times the size of Central Park in New York and almost four times the size of Hyde Park in London.
The park is home to over 250 species of trees and shrubs, many of which were brought from different parts of the world.
At various times, these paths were walked by the great writers Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, Maxim Gorky, Anna Akhmatova , legendary opera singer Feodor Chaliapin, and the celebrated ballerina Anna Pavlova.
Checkout from the hotel.
Lunch at the hotel restaurant.
